Iran Commends Oman for Good Faith in Strait of Hormuz Talks

Tehran: Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmaeil Baqaei, emphasized Oman's role in recent discussions regarding shipping security in the Strait of Hormuz, noting that the neighboring country has acted in good faith throughout the negotiations.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Baqaei, during his weekly press briefing on Monday, highlighted the mutual interests of the two littoral states in ensuring security in the region. He acknowledged Oman's longstanding and positive relations with Iran, which have contributed to the constructive nature of the talks.

While Baqaei expressed optimism about future developments, he cautioned that an understanding between Iran and Oman alone is insufficient for securing the shipping routes in the Strait of Hormuz. He pointed out that the ongoing insecurity is primarily due to military actions by the US and Israel, which continue to undermine the safe passage of vessels in the strategic waterway.
