Iran Condemns Israel’s ‘Act of Terrorism’ During Funeral of Hezbollah Leaders

Beirut: Iran's Foreign Ministry has condemned Israel's deployment of fighter jets over Beirut during the funeral ceremony of Hezbollah leaders as an 'act of terrorism' and a violation of Lebanon's sovereignty and territorial integrity. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esma'eel Baqayi criticized the low-altitude flight of Israeli fighter jets over the funeral, describing it as an attempt to intimidate the large crowd gathered to honor the martyred leaders.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the funeral ceremony in Beirut attracted hundreds of thousands of people from Lebanon and across the region. They came together to pay tribute to Hezbollah leaders Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and Sayyed Hashem Saffieddine, who were killed in Israeli airstrikes late last year.

Lebanese state media reported that Israeli aircraft flew at a low altitude over the city during the funeral proceedings. In addition to the aerial presence, the Israeli military conducted attacks in the Tyre district of southern Lebanon.

Baqayi has urged the United Nations Security Council to denounce the incident, labeling it as 'a vicious act of terrorism against civilians.'
