Tehran: Iran’s foreign minister has strongly denounced Israel’s assassination of Yemen’s Prime Minister Ahmed Ghaleb al-Rahawi and several other officials, calling for immediate international action to hold Israeli leaders accountable.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi condemned the recent Israeli airstrike on Yemen’s capital, Sana’a, which resulted in the deaths of al-Rahawi and other top Yemeni officials. This incident is part of a series of Israeli aerial attacks on Yemen, following Yemen’s military operations against Israel due to its actions in the Gaza Strip.
Araghchi expressed his condolences to the Yemeni and Palestinian people and the global community of Muslims and advocates for freedom, mourning the loss of the Yemeni officials. He criticized the assassination as a blatant violation of Yemen’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, labeling it a grave crime against the Yemeni nation, which has been a staunch supporter of Palestine.
He further criticized the United Nations for its inaction against Israel’s repeated violations of international law. Araghchi accused the United States, Britain, and other Western countries of supporting Israel’s aggressive actions in Gaza and other regions, undermining international law and implicating them in Israel’s actions.
Highlighting the threat to international peace and security, Araghchi urged for urgent global intervention to stop what he described as genocide in Gaza and to hold Israeli officials accountable. He emphasized that Israel’s actions would not deter Yemen’s resolve to defend its independence and continue supporting Palestine, strengthening resistance across the region.
