Iran Condemns US Interference in Venezuela’s Internal Affairs.

Tehran: Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmail Baghaei has condemned US interference in Venezuela's internal affairs, stating that such interventions violate international law. Baghaei expressed concerns that these actions undermine peace and stability in Venezuela, emphasizing that they contradict the principles outlined in the UN Charter. According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Baghaei highlighted that Iran views the US and some of its allies' involvement in Venezuela as illegal, likening it to the divisive interventions of 2019 when the US recognized a parallel government. He reaffirmed Iran's support for Venezuela's legitimate leader, President Nicolas Maduro, and praised the efforts of the Venezuelan government and its citizens to overcome the challenges posed by US sanctions and pressures. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken recently declared on his X account that Washington recognizes Venezuelan opposition candidate Edmundo González Urrutia as the 'president-elect,' following Maduro's re-electi on in July. This US stance recalls the 2019 scenario when the US supported self-proclaimed president Juan Guaido and sought backing from Western allies, alongside imposing sanctions on Venezuela due to its opposition to Washington's policies.
