Tehran: Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman, Esmail Baghaei, has strongly condemned US President Donald Trump's plan regarding Gaza, labeling it as an 'ownership' and ethnic cleansing scheme. Baghaei criticized the proposal as aligning with Israel's aim of destroying Palestine, describing it as appalling. According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Baghaei expressed that the plan represents an unprecedented attack on the fundamental principles of international law and the UN Charter. He emphasized that the people of Palestine, who have endured severe crimes and aggression from the occupying regime for 76 years, remain steadfast in their refusal to abandon their ancestral land. Baghaei asserted that these people would not allow the US and Israel to obliterate their national and historical identity through such techniques. The controversy stems from President Trump's announcement during a joint news conference with Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Trump proposed taking over the Gaza Strip after displa cing Palestinians from the area, a move that many fear could lead to an ethnic-cleansing campaign. Trump suggested that Palestinians would welcome the opportunity to leave Gaza and indicated that the US plans to take long-term ownership of the Strip, with ambitions to transform it into the 'Riviera of the Middle East' through redevelopment efforts.
