Vienna:On the 70th anniversary of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) statute's approval, Iran's permanent mission to the United Nations in Vienna issued a statement demanding an end to the selective and politically motivated implementation of the agency's obligations.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the statement criticized the IAEA for employing double standards and discriminatory approaches. It emphasized that the statute should not be used as a political tool to serve the interests of powerful states.
The statement also condemned the silence of the IAEA's governing bodies on military attacks by the United States and the Zionist regime on Iran's peaceful nuclear facilities in 2025 and 2026. Additionally, it highlighted the IAEA's failure to address the lack of comprehensive safeguards on the nuclear activities of the Zionist regime.
Iran reiterated its call for full, balanced, and non-discriminatory implementation of the IAEA statute for all member states, particularly concerning technical cooperation and access to peaceful nuclear energy. The statement insisted on the importance of the agency upholding its statutory mandate without political influence and ensuring equitable treatment for all member states.
