Tehran:Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmail Baqaei, issued a stern warning to the country's adversaries, cautioning them against underestimating Iran's defensive capabilities. Baqaei invoked the writings of an 11th-century Persian historian to emphasize that any expectation of an easy victory over Iran would lead to defeat and humiliation.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Baqaei referenced a passage from the "History of Beyhaqi," authored by medieval historian Abolfazl Beyhaqi. The passage describes attackers who mistakenly believed they could easily capture a fortress, not realizing it was guarded by 'lions'. Baqaei used this historical analogy to highlight the current situation facing Iran amid ongoing tensions and threats.
In a post on X, Baqaei quoted the historical account, noting that the attackers thought their task was as simple as eating paludeh, a sweet dish in Iranian cuisine. He argued that this illusion of an easy victory should not be mistaken for actual success on the battlefield. Baqaei further emphasized that initiating aggression under the false belief of a straightforward victory does not equate to triumph, and misjudging a well-defended fortress would result in the aggressors' defeat and shame.
