Iran Criticizes Israeli Claims Over Golan Heights and Palestinian Statehood

Tehran: The Foreign Ministry has strongly condemned recent remarks by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claiming permanent sovereignty over Syria's Golan Heights and rejecting an independent Palestinian state, saying such colonial ambitions cannot alter legal and historical realities.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the Foreign Ministry stated that Israeli rulers have no legitimacy to comment on Palestinian statehood, emphasizing that Palestine belongs to the Palestinian people and 'racist fantasies' cannot erase this truth. The ministry denounced Israel's expansionist rhetoric, stressing that the Golan Heights are an inseparable part of Syria and that no occupying entity can change established legal and historical facts.

The ministry also rejected Colombia's recent move to recognize Israeli sovereignty over the occupied Golan, calling it a violation of the UN Charter and international law regarding respect for the territorial integrity of countries. The statement highlighted the UN Security Council's responsibility to stop Israel's ongoing aggression against Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, and other regional states.

The Foreign Ministry further noted that Palestine remains the central moral and humanitarian issue of the modern world, asserting that the creation of a 'fabricated entity' in 1948 has destabilized the entire region.
