Tehran: Iran's mission to the United Nations in Vienna has stated that calls for Tehran to unconditionally comply with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Safeguards are 'meaningless' amid the current 'hazardous' circumstances. According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the Iranian mission expressed on its X account that these demands overlook the fact that the IAEA initially suspended the Safeguards implementation and withdrew its inspectors from Iran due to safety concerns following what it described as illegal US-Israeli aggression. The Iranian mission urged IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi to first address the United States and Israel, urging them to cease attacks or threats against Iran's safeguarded peaceful nuclear facilities. This, according to the mission, is essential for creating the necessary conditions for the implementation of IAEA Safeguards. The mission stated that until the UN nuclear agency and the United Nations Security Council fulfill their responsibilities, Iran reserves the right to protect its national interests independently.
