Iran Criticizes US Flight Restrictions, Urges Iraq to Respond

Tehran:The Iranian Foreign Ministry has strongly criticized the United States for its actions aimed at disrupting Iran's trade and air transportation with other countries. In response, it has urged Iraq to take appropriate measures against the US efforts to limit flights.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the Foreign Ministry released a statement condemning the US government's actions, which it described as illegal and inhumane. The ministry emphasized that these measures violate fundamental human rights norms and international law, undermining friendly relations among countries, particularly those that are neighbors.

The statement highlighted the deep historical, religious, and cultural ties between Iran and Iraq, stressing that the imposed restrictions on civil air travel contradict the mutual interests and welfare of both nations. It also pointed out the necessity of managing transportation and communication issues between the two countries through a mutually beneficial and independent approach.

The ministry further noted that the flight restrictions create significant problems for passengers, pilgrims, patients, students, and economic actors from both countries. It argued that these restrictions conflict with the strategic relations between Iran and Iraq, which are grounded in good-neighborly ties.

While respecting Iraq's national sovereignty, Iran called for decisions to counter what it termed US economic terrorism, aiming to lift the restrictions and restore normal flight operations between the two nations to benefit their interests and welfare.
