Tehran: Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei has criticized the United States, accusing it of initiating conflict and expecting the global community to bear the resulting costs, while unfairly blaming Iran for the chaos.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Baqaei expressed his views in a post on X, where he highlighted the situation in the Strait of Hormuz. Baqaei stated that the waterway remained open until February 28, when what he referred to as "USrael" launched an attack on Iran. He accused Washington of starting an unlawful war, which he described as 'savage', leading to disruptions in commercial shipping activities.

Baqaei emphasized that the United States is now attempting to transfer the responsibility of the conflict's repercussions onto Iran. He argued that Washington's actions are causing disruptions, but it is trying to make the international community pay for these consequences.

The spokesperson further insisted that the United States is reshaping the narrative to depict the conflict, instigated by Washington, as a result of Iran's actions. He reiterated his point by stating, "America started the war but expects the whole world to pay the bill, while portraying Iran as the one that caused this chaos."

Baqaei concluded his remarks by dismissing the US's approach as entirely unreasonable.
