Iran: Iran has designated the Royal Canadian Navy as a terrorist organization in a reciprocal response to Ottawa's earlier decision to list Iran's IRGC as a terrorist entity, the Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the Foreign Ministry stated that the move was taken under a domestic law mandating countermeasures against countries that support or follow the United States' designation of the IRGC as a terrorist organization. The ministry emphasized that Canada's decision violated fundamental principles of international law by branding an official branch of Iran's Armed Forces as a terrorist group.

Canada cut diplomatic ties with Iran in 2012. In June last year, Ottawa listed the IRGC as a terrorist organization, a move that drew strong condemnation from Tehran. Iran has repeatedly rejected such designations, stating that they lack legal basis and undermine international norms governing relations between states.
