Tehran: President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Tuesday that Iran would deliver a harsh and deterrent response to any act of aggression.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Pezeshkian made the remarks in a message posted on X social media, underscoring Tehran's stance that any hostile action against Iran would be met decisively.

The warning followed comments by US President Donald Trump during a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in which Trump said he had heard Iran was seeking to rebuild its capabilities and indicated that the United States would destroy them if that were the case.

Trump also suggested Washington would swiftly authorize military action against Iran if it pursued missile or nuclear programs.

The Islamic Republic says its missile program is for deterrence and not open to negotiations.
