Iran Dismisses Allegations by PGCC Secretary-General

Tehran: Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei has categorically rejected the claims raised in the press statement of the Secretary-General of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC) regarding the performance of the Islamic Republic during the imposed US-Israeli war. Baqaei criticized some PGCC member governments for participating in what he described as the US-Zionist regime's military aggression against Iran, which he claims violates international law.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Baqaei emphasized Iran's dedication to principles of good neighborliness and respect for national sovereignty. Despite this commitment, he accused certain PGCC member states of failing to honor their international obligations to prevent aggressors from using their territories to attack Iran. He stated that some of these governments not only failed to prevent this aggression but actively participated in it, which, under UN General Assembly's Resolution No. 3314, could be considered an act of aggression.

Baqaei further accused these governments of aligning themselves with the US and Israel in committing crimes against Iranians. He also refuted the PGCC secretary-general's statement regarding the Strait of Hormuz, asserting that Iran, as the coastal state, has taken lawful measures to defend itself against US-Israeli aggression while ensuring safe passage through the strait.

The spokesperson reiterated Iran's role in fostering regional confidence and invited all regional countries to avoid divisive actions. He called for PGCC governments to take steps to rebuild trust with Iran, including compensating for the damages caused by their involvement in the US-Israeli aggression and ceasing cooperation with Iran's adversaries.
