Tehran: Parliament Speaker and head of Iran's negotiating team, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, has dismissed US President Donald Trump's latest threats, stating that Tehran does not "count US threats for anything" and that the Iranian Armed Forces stand ready to respond.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Ghalibaf conveyed his dismissal of the threats in a post on X, questioning the effectiveness of such threats by saying, "Don't they think that if their threats had any effect, they would not have been this desperate today? We do not count US threats for anything." He further advised caution in statements, emphasizing the readiness of Iranian armed forces to respond decisively, adding, "No matter what they say, we are the ones who act."

Ghalibaf's comments were made in reaction to President Trump's recent warning to "hit Iran very hard again" if Tehran does not restrain the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah from "causing trouble." The backdrop to these tensions includes ongoing negotiations mediated by Pakistan and Qatar, which recently concluded their first round at Switzerland's Burgenstock resort. The talks are part of a 60-day window under the 14-point Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, mandating both parties to avoid threats or the use of force against each other.
