Tehran: The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has announced the interception and downing of yet another advanced MQ-1 drone of the United States over the strategic Strait of Hormuz. In a statement on Tuesday, the IRGC Public Relations Department said that the American drone was detected and destroyed in the sky, west of the Strait of Hormuz, by the IRGC Aerospace Force's new advanced air defense system.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the operation was carried out under the control of Iran's integrated air-defense network. The Iranian air defense forces have intercepted and destroyed dozens of combat and spy drones, as well as other hostile aircraft, since the US, along with the Israeli regime, launched an unprovoked war on Iran. Last week, a US MQ-1 drone was also shot down by the Iranian Army air defense over Hormuz.

Meanwhile, the IRGC Navy Command announced the collision of supertanker "Algaya" with naval mines as it tried to pass through the prohibited zone, causing the explosion of the vessel south of the Strait of Hormuz.
