Damascus: Iran's Ambassador to Syria, Hossein Akbari, has expressed regret over what he called the destructive role of some regional countries in supporting terrorist groups in Syria. Referring to the recent developments in Syria's northwestern city of Idlib, Akbari stated on Sunday that the terrorists had planned their attacks long ago, utilizing modern equipment, drones, and artillery fire while also waging psychological operations. According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the ambassador highlighted the destructive influence of certain regional countries in supporting these groups in the Syrian cities of Hama and Idlib, resulting in war and bloodshed in the region. Akbari also commented on the role of European countries in the Syrian developments, asserting that their connection with the terrorist groups currently active in Syria is evident as they support and guide these factions. The Iranian ambassador further elaborated that the groups have united following their clashes in the days leading up to the ir attacks in northwest Syria. He noted that Western states are not the only backers of these groups, as other countries also support them due to their hostility towards the Syrian government.
