Tehran: Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf in a telephone conversation with his Lebanese counterpart Nabih Berri has said that the Islamic Republic of Iran is helping in the ceasefire process in Gaza and Lebanon. Qalibaf and Berri held telephone discussions on Monday to address the latest situation in Lebanon.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Qalibaf expressed gratitude to his Lebanese counterpart for the hospitality extended to him during his recent visit to Beirut. After his trip to Lebanon, he traveled to Geneva to raise Lebanese issues at the 149th Parliamentary Assembly of the International Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU). During the assembly, he addressed representatives from all attending countries, explaining the situation in Lebanon. Upon returning to Iran, he continued to support Lebanon by providing humanitarian aid.
He emphasized the support of Iran’s Supreme Leader, the people, the government, and the parliament for Lebanon, highlighting the centrality of discussions reg
arding the ceasefire and assistance for the war-torn country. He noted that Iran and the resistance front provide political support and any other necessary assistance.
For his part, Nabih Berri expressed his gratitude for the call and attention to Lebanese issues, acknowledging the efforts made during Qalibaf’s visits to Lebanon and Geneva. Berri highlighted the sensitivity of the current situation in Lebanon, noting that the Zionist enemy has displaced 1.2 million to 1.4 million Lebanese people and is attempting to erase parts of southern Lebanon’s villages and towns from the map.
He compared the crimes committed by the Zionists in southern Lebanon to those in Gaza, stating that while the situation is dire, it will not deter the resistance from continuing its fight.
