Iran Hosts Joint Anti-Terrorism Drill with SCO Members

Tehran: Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, Kazem Gharibabadi, has emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran has been a leading force in the battle against terrorism. Recognized as one of the primary victims of terrorism, Iran has consistently positioned itself at the forefront of anti-terrorism efforts.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Gharibabadi highlighted a significant joint anti-terrorism exercise titled ‘Sahand-2025’ conducted between the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and Iran. This exercise was hosted by the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Ground Forces in East Azarbaijan Province, located in northwest Iran. The drill saw the participation of 18 high-ranking delegations from SCO member states and regional security organizations.

Gharibabadi pointed out the valuable experiences and capabilities of Iran’s armed forces in defending the nation’s security and territorial integrity. Hosting the exercise was seen as an effort to foster alignment and coalition-building, contributing to the development of new regional security cooperation.

Reaffirming Iran’s status as a leading victim and fighter against terrorism, Gharibabadi noted that the Sahand-2025 exercise would serve as a vital platform for sharing experiences and strategies among SCO member states.
