Doha: Iran has reiterated its stance on the peaceful use of nuclear energy, emphasizing its right to enrichment as part of its energy strategy. Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi made these comments during the 4th round of the Iran and Arab World Conference held in Doha, Qatar, on May 10, 2025. The minister underscored Iran's commitment to the international non-proliferation regime, while categorically stating that nuclear weapons are forbidden in the country.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Araqchi highlighted Iran's proactive role in promoting a nuclear-weapon-free zone in the West Asian region, asserting that weapons of mass destruction hold no place in Iran's security doctrine. He called on Western countries to abandon what he termed as double standards, urging them to address the disparities in nuclear capabilities within the region. He criticized the tolerance for nuclear arsenals held by aggressive regimes while scrutinizing Iran's peaceful nuclear pursuits.
Araqchi further noted that Iran remains engaged in dialogues with the United States and other global powers, including Europe, Russia, and China, aiming to resolve issues in good faith. This diplomatic engagement underscores Iran's continuous effort to assert its rights while adhering to international norms concerning nuclear energy.
