Tehran: Judiciary Chief Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Ejei has announced that cooperation between Iran and Iraq has expanded in numerous fields, specifically within the legal and judicial sectors, emphasizing Tehran's readiness to further enhance ties with Baghdad.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Mohseni-Ejei made these remarks during a meeting with Faik Zidan, head of Iraq's Supreme Judicial Council, who was visiting Tehran with a high-ranking judicial delegation. He highlighted that the judicial and legal relations between the two countries have progressed through memorandums of understanding and agreements, and he assured that Iran is prepared to offer further assistance and cooperation to Iraq's judiciary.

Mohseni-Ejei called for special judicial and legal arrangements to facilitate travel for Iranian and Iraqi pilgrims visiting holy sites in both countries throughout the year. He emphasized the importance of expanding legal and judicial cooperation to tackle challenges faced by Iranian and Iraqi traders and businesspeople.

Addressing security cooperation, Mohseni-Ejei stated that the security of Iran and Iraq is closely interconnected, necessitating swift and decisive coordination to counter any security threats along their shared border or from foreign actors.

Zidan, representing Iraq, affirmed the solidarity of the Iraqi government and people with Iran following aggression by the United States and Israel. He recalled Iran's support during challenging times, including post-2003 and during the fight against terrorism, condemning the United States' 'economic terrorism' against Iran.

Zidan also underscored the necessity for the full implementation of judicial agreements between Iran and Iraq, describing their cooperation as rooted in a shared understanding of the need for strategic relations.
