Iran Not Looking for War, But Will Not Submit to Bullies: Administration Spokesperson

Tehran: Administration spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani asserted that Iran has not engaged in warfare in modern history and does not seek conflict, yet remains resolute in resisting coercion and intimidation. During a weekly press conference, Mohajerani emphasized that Iran’s stance has been communicated globally through diplomatic channels and media engagements.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Mohajerani highlighted Iran’s historical commitment to self-defense, underscoring the administration’s dedication to ensuring the well-being of its citizens. She praised the Iranian nation’s resilience during the recent 12-day conflict involving Israel and the U.S., attributing their steadfastness to a deep-seated determination to protect national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Mohajerani also referenced President Masoud Pezeshkian’s message to expatriates, acknowledging them as integral to Iran’s identity and emphasizing the unity demonstrated by the Iranian populace despite external pressures.

Addressing terminological preferences, Mohajerani advocated for replacing the term ’12-day war’ with ‘the sacred defense,’ to better reflect Iran’s narrative and distinguish it from other conflicts labeled by their duration.

In light of the recent hostilities, Mohajerani indicated that a comprehensive damage assessment is pending, particularly concerning infrastructure, and assured that budgetary amendments would be considered if necessary. She affirmed that defense sector needs are accounted for in the current budget, with provisions for adjustments if required.

Regarding the U.S. president’s remarks against Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, Mohajerani noted that these issues are being addressed through international channels. She mentioned the reaction from religious figures, including Ayatollah Sistani, who quickly responded with a fatwa condemning the insults, highlighting the broader religious and national discontent.
