Iran’s Exports to Africa Surge by 85 Percent in First Quarter

Tehran: The head of the Africa Department at the Trade Promotion Organization (T.P.O.) has reported a significant increase in Iran’s trade with Africa this year, with exports and imports both experiencing substantial growth.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Mohammad-Reza Safari announced that exports to Africa grew by 85 percent in the first quarter of the Iranian calendar year, compared to the same period last year. He highlighted that Iran’s trade balance in 2025 has reached 113 percent, with the number of African countries importing Iranian goods rising from 27 to 32.

Safari attributed this growth to the Iran-Africa Economic Cooperation Summit, which facilitated the implementation of trade-related issues and approvals from the Africa Headquarters. He also proposed strategies to enhance bilateral trade, emphasizing the need to focus on exporting high value-added products and investing in offshore production in African nations. These strategies, he noted, have been successfully employed by China in Africa for many years.

Currently, bilateral trade between Iran and African countries stands at approximately $1.3 billion, with both sides aiming to increase this figure to $3-5 billion by 2025.
