Tehran: Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi reiterated the country’s commitment to self-reliance in defense following recent Israeli military actions. Araqchi emphasized that Iran trusts only its own forces for safeguarding its national security during a meeting with ambassadors, diplomats, and envoys of international organizations in Tehran.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Araqchi highlighted Iran’s policy of self-reliance and military strength, asserting that recent international developments validate this approach. He criticized the global community’s inaction in confronting Israeli aggression and outlined Iran’s diplomatic measures to address the issue. Araqchi mentioned that he had personally sent an official letter to the United Nations secretary-general and engaged in direct talks to raise awareness about the situation.
Tehran called for an emergency session of the U.N. Security Council, which took place but did not produce significant results due to U.S. intervention. Araqchi also revealed that Iran has formally requested an extraordinary session of the International Atomic Energy Agency’s Board of Governors. He stressed that military attacks on nuclear facilities must receive global condemnation to prevent further aggression.
Araqchi affirmed Iran’s dedication to diplomacy, stating that the nation is committed to justice and peaceful conflict resolution. He acknowledged the support of regional allies, who have united against Israel’s military actions, and praised neighboring countries for their strong condemnation of the strikes.
On June 13, Israel launched a series of strikes on Iran, including targeting residential buildings in Tehran. Following the attack, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei declared that Israel had sealed a ‘bitter and painful’ destiny for itself.
