Ankara: Iran's Foreign Minister, Abbas Araqchi, has reiterated Iran's commitment to supporting Syria in its battle against terrorism while aiming to achieve regional stability through discussions with Turkiye. Upon his arrival in Ankara on Monday, Araqchi emphasized the unwavering support of the Islamic Republic and regional resistance groups for Syria, which is currently grappling with terrorist threats. According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Araqchi highlighted shared concerns between Iran and Turkiye, expressing optimism about reaching a mutual understanding with Turkish officials to promote regional stability. During his visit to Damascus, Araqchi had a productive meeting with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, discussing the ongoing developments in Syria and the broader region. Araghchi acknowledged the challenging conditions facing Syria but praised the resilience of the Syrian government and resistance groups in confronting threats from Takfiri terrorists. He reaffirmed Iran's comprehensive suppor t for President Assad, the Syrian government, military, and people, citing past confrontations with Daesh and other terror groups as evidence of Syria's capability to counter such threats. The Iranian diplomat also mentioned the impact of geopolitical tensions, particularly the Zionist regime's actions in Lebanon and Palestine, as factors contributing to the terrorist resurgence. Araqchi assured that Iran, alongside resistance groups, would provide necessary support to eliminate the Takfiri threat. In his discussions with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, scheduled for Monday, Araqchi intended to focus on bilateral relations, regional issues, and developments in Syria. He expressed hope for a common understanding that would prevent Syria and the region from becoming terrorist hubs, emphasizing the importance of consistent consultation between Turkiye and Iran on regional matters. The meeting between Araqchi and Fidan was expected to culminate in a joint press conference, outlining the stance of both na tions on key regional issues.
