London: Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has firmly denied any involvement in an alleged plot to target the Israeli embassy in London. In a statement released on his X account, Araqchi emphasized that Iran categorically rejects these accusations and highlighted that no formal allegations have been communicated through diplomatic channels.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Araqchi expressed concerns over media reports suggesting Iranian nationals were implicated in the supposed plot. He underlined Iran’s willingness to cooperate with the UK in investigating credible allegations but pointed out the suspicious timing and lack of engagement from UK authorities, suggesting potential ulterior motives at play.
Araqchi warned of possible interference by third parties aiming to disrupt diplomatic efforts and provoke tensions through false flag operations. He reiterated Iran’s readiness to engage in clarifying the situation and called on UK authorities to ensure due process for Iranian citizens involved.
The announcement follows the arrest of eight individuals, including seven Iranian nationals, by British police on terrorism charges. The arrests coincide with ongoing Iran-US negotiations, leading some analysts in Iranian media to speculate about a potential provocation aimed at undermining these talks, which face Israeli opposition.
In response, the Iranian embassy in Britain reported that Ambassador Ali Mousavi met with Hamish Falconer, Britain’s Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, on 7 May 2025. The meeting involved discussions on various bilateral and international issues, including Iran-US negotiations.
The embassy noted that both parties reaffirmed their commitment to international law principles, mutual respect for sovereignty, and security. They also emphasized the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in addressing challenges, with assurances from Minister Falconer regarding the rights and due process for the arrested Iranian nationals.
