Tehran: Iran, Russia, and China have jointly rejected an anti-Iran draft resolution presented by the United States and the E3 - Germany, France, and Britain - at the IAEA Board of Governors meeting, calling the move legally baseless.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the joint statement at the IAEA's Board of Governors emphasized the termination of all provisions of Security Council Resolution 2231 on October 18, 2025, declaring any attempt by the US and E3 to activate the so-called 'snapback' mechanism against Iran as null and void. The statement urged member states not to support the resolution, arguing that Iran's alleged non-compliance with its safeguards obligations was politically motivated and baseless.

The statement highlighted the unprecedented attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities under IAEA safeguards and condemned such actions as violations of the principles of the United Nations Charter and international law. It was noted that the prevailing security conditions have hindered the normal implementation of IAEA safeguards in Iran, a reality acknowledged in recent reports of the Director General to the Board of Governors.

Despite these challenges, Iran has continued its cooperation with the Agency, responding positively to requests for access to the Bushehr NPP in mid-September 2026. The statement underscored that such cooperation demonstrates Iran's commitment to constructive engagement with the Agency.

The statement criticized the draft resolution proposed by the US and E3 for failing to address the root causes of the situation and for exerting additional pressure on Iran. It encouraged all responsible Member States to consider the implications carefully and refrain from supporting the draft resolution, advocating for dialogue and diplomacy as the sole viable path forward.
