Tehran:The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy has announced the capture of a second unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) belonging to the United States in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the IRGC stated that its naval forces intercepted and successfully seized an advanced American UUV, which was conducting espionage activities in the strategic waterway off Iran's southern coast.

The operation was described as coordinated and complex, utilizing indigenous intelligence capabilities and electronic warfare measures. The captured submarine, identified as a Remus 600, is said to be an advanced intelligent unmanned underwater system. It has been handed over to specialists to retrieve and examine the information stored on it.

The IRGC reiterated its stance that the Strait of Hormuz remains 'closed' and warned that it would continue to respond to any "dangerous activities and unauthorized passage through the waterway."

Earlier, the IRGC Navy had also captured another sophisticated American underwater drone, the Dive-LD, which was designed for long missions in deep waters and was delivered to the US Navy last year.
