Tashkent: Iran and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) have reached an initial agreement for the construction of 200 freight wagons, as announced by the head of the Railways of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Jabbar Ali Zakeri revealed that the discussions took place during the recent CIS railway meeting held in Tashkent. According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the talks, which occurred a few days ago, focused on Iran's commitment to produce 200 freight wagons. These wagons are set to be allocated to one of the CIS members, marking a significant step in Iran's collaboration with the CIS countries. Zakeri highlighted the initial agreement, which was signed by four countries, as a notable achievement from the Tashkent visit. This development comes after Iran's participation in the 81st meeting of the CIS Council for Railway Transport, held in the Uzbek capital on October 6-7. During the meeting, Iran also submitted a request to join the railway network of the CIS, allowing its wagons to operate wit hin the network. This move could potentially enhance Iran's integration into the regional transportation infrastructure, fostering greater economic cooperation with the CIS members.
