Iran to Implement New Legal Framework for Persian Gulf and Strait of Hormuz: Leader

Tehran: Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei has announced that Iran will introduce a new legal framework to manage the Strait of Hormuz, marking what he describes as 'a new chapter' for the Persian Gulf and the strategic waterway.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Ayatollah Khamenei conveyed that the Islamic Republic is committed to securing the Persian Gulf region and ending the hostile misuse of the Strait of Hormuz. He emphasized that the new legal framework and management system will promote comfort and development for all nations in the region, and its economic benefits will be advantageous for the nation.

Ayatollah Khamenei highlighted the significance of the Persian Gulf, noting that it is more than just a body of water. It is an integral part of Iran's identity and civilization, serving as a meeting point of nations and a key artery of global commerce through the Strait of Hormuz and the Sea of Oman. He also noted the historical challenges posed by foreign powers, describing repeated invasions by European and American entities as part of a broader pattern of malicious schemes against the peoples of the Persian Gulf.

The Leader specifically cited the United States, referred to as the 'Great Satan,' for its military aggression and illegal naval blockade. He recalled Iran's historical struggles against foreign invaders, including the expulsion of the Portuguese and resistance to Dutch colonialism and British imperialism. Ayatollah Khamenei stated that the Islamic Revolution marked a pivotal moment in driving out arrogant powers from the Persian Gulf.

He further noted that recent events have demonstrated Iran's resolve in rejecting foreign dominance. Over the past sixty days, the nations of the Persian Gulf have witnessed Iran's naval forces, supported by the Army and the IRGC, display courage and vigilance. Ayatollah Khamenei asserted that the US military presence is the primary cause of insecurity in the region, and he questioned the ability of America's bases to ensure safety for themselves or their allies.

The Leader expressed optimism for the future, envisioning a Persian Gulf free from American influence and devoted to progress, peace, and prosperity. He emphasized the shared destiny of the peoples and neighbors of the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman, and he dismissed the rightful place of foreign interferences.

Ayatollah Khamenei concluded by affirming the commitment of the Iranian people to safeguarding their national assets, including identity, spirituality, and technological advancements, as they do their territorial borders.
