Tehran: The Iranian Defense Ministry says it will restructure and modernize the country's defense industry in line with the experience and lessons learned from recent wars, stressing the need to adapt defense capabilities to emerging requirements.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, a statement issued ahead of National Defense Industry Day on August 22, the Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics emphasized that Iran's defense industry has been built on domestic knowledge and capabilities in response to threats and sanctions. This development has positioned it as a fundamental pillar of the country's power and deterrence.

The ministry paid tribute to the martyrs of the defense industry and highlighted the role of Iranian scientists, specialists, and young people in enhancing the country's defense capabilities.

The statement noted that recent wars served as a significant test of the country's defense capabilities, with the achievements of the defense industry, alongside the capabilities of the Armed Forces and the Iranian people, disrupting a substantial part of the enemy's strategies.

The Ministry of Defense acknowledged that the wars also brought to light new requirements as well as existing strengths and weaknesses. Consequently, it stated that the defense industry will undergo continuous modernization, restructuring, and updates based on the lessons learned from these conflicts.

The statement further emphasized the idea of a 'revolution in the defense industry,' rooted in national defense participation, utilization of knowledge-based companies' capabilities, smart technologies, and accelerating the transformation of knowledge into defense capabilities.

The ministry reiterated its primary mission to transform 'field experience into knowledge, knowledge into technology, and technology into future defense capabilities,' underscoring that achieving this goal necessitates the collaboration of universities, specialists, knowledge-based companies, and the public.
