Muscat: Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has called on Arab and Islamic nations to unite in support of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to counter a joint U.S.-Israeli plan aimed at forcibly relocating Palestinians from their homeland.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Araghchi made this plea during a meeting with Jassim Muhammad Al-Budaiwi, the secretary general of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC), in Muscat. Araghchi emphasized the necessity for a unified and decisive voice from the Islamic world to support the Palestinian people.

The Iranian diplomat referenced the inaugural foreign ministerial meeting between Iran and PGCC member states in Doha, highlighting the importance of ongoing dialogue and mutual understanding. He praised the position of Arab countries, particularly in the Persian Gulf region, against the American-Zionist initiative to relocate the people of Gaza. He also condemned the Israeli prime minister's statement about establishing a Palestinian state in Saudi Arabia.

Araghchi mentioned that in his discussions with the OIC chief and foreign ministers of Arab and Islamic countries, there was a shared commitment to tackle the U.S.-Israeli plan aimed at displacing Palestinians from their ancestral land.

PGCC chief Jassim Muhammad Al-Budaiwi expressed support for continued dialogue between the six-nation bloc and Iran, emphasizing mutual interests and concerns. He appreciated Iran's suggestion to convene an emergency OIC meeting on Palestine and reiterated the Council's firm opposition to any attempts to resettle Palestinians elsewhere, underscoring the need to uphold the rights of the Palestinian people.

Araghchi's visit to Muscat also includes participation in the 8th Indian Ocean Rim Summit, co-hosted by Oman, India, and Singapore, focusing on maritime partnerships with senior officials from 20 member countries in attendance.
