Geneva: The indirect Iran-US talks have started, says the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) correspondent in Geneva, adding that the talks had practically begun on Monday with a round of preliminary discussions between Iran and Oman, during which Iran's viewpoints were explained.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the American side held talks with the Omani Foreign Minister and the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on Tuesday morning. Iran's viewpoints regarding the nuclear issue, the lifting of sanctions, and the framework for any potential understanding were explained during these discussions.

As of 10:00 Geneva time, both the Iranian and American delegations are present at the negotiation venue, and the exchange of messages through the Omani intermediary has practically commenced. The dialogue between the Iranian and American sides with the IAEA chief distinguishes this round of talks from the previous one.

The Iranian delegation is present in Geneva with its full readiness in both the technical-nuclear and economic (sanctions lifting) fields, which indicates Iran's seriousness for a result-oriented dialogue. The indirect Tehran-Washington talks follow the first round held in Muscat last week, which was described by the two sides as a 'good' start.

The parties have so far described the talks as good and have expressed their desire to continue this process. Iran, as a responsible country, has participated in the negotiations with maximum insight, courage, and seriousness to put an end to an unnecessary crisis regarding the country's nuclear issue. If Washington has the readiness and political seriousness to reach a fair and just conclusion, achieving an understanding will be within reach.
