Iran Vows Unprecedented Response to Attacks, Says Speaker Ghalibaf

Tehran:Iran is prepared to deliver a response beyond its adversaries' imagination to any attack on its territorial integrity, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf stated, emphasizing that threats of a wider war or assassination would not compel the Iranian nation to relinquish its rights and interests.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Ghalibaf made these remarks during the commencement of an in-person and virtual parliamentary session. He recalled the protest by the late Imam Khomeini on November 4, 1964, against the Capitulation Law, which granted privileges to American personnel in Iran.

Ghalibaf noted that Imam Khomeini had described the legislation as a symbol of national humiliation and a surrender of Iran's independence and dignity for American dollars. He also highlighted that the historical speech exposed the enduring connection between the United States and the Israeli regime.

The speaker argued that the United States' sanctions, assassinations, and military and economic pressure on Iran continued the same pattern of domination that Imam Khomeini condemned nearly six decades ago. He asserted that Iran has fundamentally changed since 1964, describing the country as an independent regional power that has broken free from foreign domination over the past 47 years.

Ghalibaf further stressed that media pressure and military threats would not compel Iran to submit to foreign demands. He stated that US statements would hold no credibility for Tehran unless Washington altered its conduct, abandoned coercion and greed, and took concrete, tangible steps to rectify its breached commitments.

Concluding his remarks, Ghalibaf declared that Iran had nothing new to communicate, arguing that the United States had entered a quagmire through miscalculations and its war against Iran, and that it was Washington that must take steps to extricate itself.
