Tehran: Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmail Baghaei Hamaneh has issued a stern warning against the resurgence of Takfiri terrorist groups in Syria, urging for decisive and coordinated action to curb the spread of terrorism across the region. In response to recent developments over the past two days, Baghaei Hamaneh highlighted the necessity of vigilance and cooperation among regional nations, particularly Syria’s neighboring countries, to counteract what he described as a dangerous conspiracy aimed at destabilizing West Asia.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Baghaei Hamaneh strongly condemned terrorism in all its forms, identifying the movements of terrorist factions in Syria as part of a malicious scheme orchestrated by the United States and a terrorist regime to disrupt regional stability. He emphasized the importance of maintaining the achievements of the Astana process, an agreement involving Iran, Turkey, and Russia that designates areas such as the outskirts of Aleppo and Idlib as de-es
calation zones. The Iranian spokesman criticized the terrorist activities in these zones as a severe breach of the Astana agreements, posing a significant threat to the progress achieved through this diplomatic process.
Baghaei Hamaneh also underscored the shared responsibility of the international community in combating terrorism, warning that any delay in addressing the activities of terrorist groups in Syria could undermine years of counter-terrorism efforts. Such inaction, he cautioned, might plunge the region into a new era of insecurity and instability, endangering the peace and security of the broader West Asian region.
