Tehran: Iran has raised serious concerns regarding breaches of confidentiality at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which it claims have previously exposed sensitive information used to carry out sabotage against its nuclear facilities.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the Iranian delegation highlighted these concerns during a meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors. A post on X by Iran's permanent mission to the United Nations office in Vienna emphasized that such breaches have led to the disclosure of critical information, subsequently exploited for acts of sabotage targeting safeguarded nuclear sites.

The Iranian mission underscored the gravity of these breaches, stating, "Such breaches are a matter of grave concern and shall be duly addressed." Iran's delegation also took the opportunity to reiterate the peaceful applications of its nuclear technology, emphasizing its significance in sectors such as agriculture, environmental protection, and medicine. They noted that Iran's nuclear advancements have been crucial in areas like crop improvement, pest control, and the production of radioisotopes.

Iran continues to assert the peaceful nature of its nuclear program, which it says is instrumental in enhancing food preservation, efficient resource use, and medical and industrial applications through the development of radiation-based technologies.
