Tehran: Iran has issued a warning to South Korea regarding any potential military involvement in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, indicating that such actions would be perceived as direct support for an aggressor and could lead to significant repercussions.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Esmaeil Baqaei, the spokesperson for Iran's Foreign Ministry, made these statements in a Korean-language post on X. Baqaei emphasized the longstanding diplomatic relationships between Iran and South Korea, which have been upheld for more than 64 years, based on mutual respect. He highlighted that Iran places great importance on its amicable relations with Seoul.

Baqaei further clarified that in the present scenario, while Iran is defending itself against what it describes as acts of aggression and war crimes by the United States against Iranian civilians, any military presence or operational participation by other nations in the Persian Gulf or the Strait of Hormuz would be seen as direct support for the aggressor. He noted that no responsible sovereign nation should yield to U.S. pressure or coercion to partake in actions against Iran.
