Moscow:Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh met with his Russian counterpart, Sergei Ryabkov, to discuss bilateral relations and developments in regional and international affairs.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Khatibzadeh, who leads the Center for Political and International Studies at the Iranian Foreign Ministry, engaged in talks with Ryabkov during his visit to Moscow. The discussions, which took place on Wednesday, focused on cooperation in international arenas and the current situation in West Asia amid rising tensions due to U.S.-Israeli actions in the region.
The Russian Foreign Ministry's website reported that the meeting occurred in a friendly, constructive, and trust-based atmosphere, aiming to enhance ties under the Comprehensive Strategic Treaty framework. Iran and Russia, as strategic allies, have been consulting on various issues following the treaty's signing by President Masoud Pezeshkian and Russian President Vladimir Putin in January 2025, which took effect in October of the same year.
