Iranian Armed Forces Criticize Australia’s IRGC Terrorism Labeling

Tehran: The General Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces has strongly condemned Australia’s unwise decision to label the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) as a state sponsor of terrorism. In a statement on Sunday, the Armed Forces described the action by the ‘dependent’ Australian government as aligning with the goals of the US-led system, which it characterized as arrogant and terrorist.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the Iranian Armed Forces stated that the Australian move serves the interests of the Israeli regime, furthering oppression and crimes. The statement labeled the claims against the IRGC as ‘baseless and spiteful’, suggesting they were made under pressure from the US and Israel. It argued that this decision reflects a lack of understanding of international and global realities.

Despite the condemnation, the Iranian Armed Forces asserted that such actions would only bolster the resolve of the Iranian nation to enhance its defense capabilities. They emphasized that these moves would resu
lt in increased support for the Armed Forces, particularly the IRGC, from Iranians and free nations worldwide.

The Australian government’s decision to label the IRGC as a ‘state sponsor of terrorism’ was made on Thursday, citing unsubstantiated claims that the force had orchestrated attacks against Australia’s Jewish community. In response, the Iranian Foreign Ministry also issued a strong condemnation, criticizing the decision as a politically motivated move influenced by the Zionist regime, intended to divert attention from the events in Gaza.
