Tehran: In an unprecedented milestone for Iranian cinema, the industry has recorded its most successful month since the COVID-19 pandemic, attracting nearly four million viewers and generating significant box office revenues. November saw sales of approximately 2,054 billion rials (around $2.93 million) through 86,241 screenings, marking a substantial recovery for the industry.According to Islamic Republic News Agency, this achievement is underscored by a 37% increase in sales and a 46% surge in audience numbers compared to October. The remarkable growth reflects the audience's renewed interest in cinema and the diverse offerings available in Iranian theaters. This resurgence in viewership comes as a relief to the industry, which has been striving to recover from the challenges posed by the pandemic.The cinema sector's revitalization is also attributed to the variety of films and increased quality of productions, drawing audiences back to theaters. Industry insiders see this as a positive indication of th e public's eagerness to return to cultural and entertainment activities following the pandemic restrictions. As the industry continues to thrive, stakeholders remain optimistic about sustaining this momentum in the coming months.Additionally, the Fajr Film Festival has received 105 films for competition in its 43rd edition, suggesting a vibrant and competitive cinematic landscape. The festival secretariat is currently reviewing these submissions to ensure compliance with regulations, after which the eligible films will be evaluated by the selection committee.
