Iranian Envoy and Uruguay Foreign Minister Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Relations

Tehran: Iran’s new ambassador to Uruguay, Mojtaba Bani-Assadi, recently held discussions with Uruguay’s Foreign Minister Mario Lubetkin, focusing on enhancing economic and trade cooperation between the two nations. The meeting took place as Bani-Assadi presented his credentials to the top diplomat of the South American country.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the Iranian envoy praised the long-standing friendly relations between Iran and Uruguay, which have spanned 122 years. He described these ties as a valuable asset and a solid foundation for expanding cooperation in political, economic, and cultural domains.

Lubetkin acknowledged the significance of the enduring friendly relations between the two countries, considering them a significant achievement. He mentioned his recent meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, which occurred on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, emphasizing Uruguay’s ongoing efforts to maintain peace in Latin America.

Both the Iranian ambassador and the Uruguayan foreign minister agreed that pursuing economic diplomacy is a consistent approach that will aid in further developing relations between the two sides.
