Tehran: Iran's ambassador to Mexico, Abolfazl Pasandideh, stated that the Iranian nation holds no animosity towards the American people and, like other global communities, anticipates reciprocal respect from the United States.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, in an interview with Politico during the World Cup Fan Fair in Mexico City, Pasandideh discussed the recent challenges faced by the Iranian football team, such as visa restrictions affecting some members of its delegation and technical staff. He highlighted Iran's participation in the FIFA World Cup, co-hosted by the US, as a demonstration of Tehran's commitment to a peaceful approach.

Pasandideh emphasized a humanitarian perspective, asserting that all humans deserve peace and noting that the Iranian team will compete on US soil because there are no issues with the American populace. He stressed that sports, particularly football, can serve as a medium for reducing tensions and fostering mutual understanding between nations, describing the World Cup as a chance for the US to pursue peace.

He further stated that Iranians naturally respond positively to goodwill but react strongly to aggression. Pasandideh urged Mr. Trump to respect the Iranian nation and engage based on mutual respect. He expressed hope that the World Cup atmosphere could foster reduced tensions and progress towards peace.
