Tehran: The government of President Masoud Pezeshkian and the Iranian Parliament have pledged to work together to address national issues, despite facing criticism from some supporters. During a recent visit to the parliament, President Pezeshkian, accompanied by his cabinet members, engaged in a three-hour joint session with lawmakers, discussing various concerns, some of which were addressed in closed-door meetings. Both Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf and President Pezeshkian emphasized the importance of continuous collaboration to resolve the country's challenges. According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the meeting occurred amid rising controversy over a bill concerning women's dress code, known as the 'Chastity and Hijab Act.' This legislation, ratified by parliament, is scheduled for implementation on December 13. The bill has sparked opposition, particularly from President Pezeshkian's supporters, who have urged him not to enforce it. President Pezeshkian remains optimistic about overcom ing shortages in the energy sector through parliament's collaboration. He expressed hope during the joint session, stating that resolving these issues is possible only through solidarity and the people's support. The president reiterated his commitment to working through cooperation and consultation to address the nation's challenges. The session also addressed regional matters, with Iranian leaders showing support for Syria amidst a resurgence of militants. President Pezeshkian called for regional unity and criticized foreign intervention in West Asia, asserting that Iran seeks peace and security in the region.
