Bandar Abbas:Tehran Iranian Navy commander Rear Admiral Shahram Irani has hailed the 86th Naval Flotilla's voyage as a historic achievement, emphasizing that it was the culmination of months of meticulous planning.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Rear Admiral Irani, speaking at a ceremony on Sunday, described the flotilla's journey as a significant accomplishment for the Iranian Navy. The voyage was completed despite challenging ocean conditions and showcased Iran's Islamic-Iranian culture and identity while demonstrating the power of the Islamic Republic.
He highlighted that faith, hope, and self-confidence were essential in enabling the Armed Forces to counter complex threats and hybrid warfare. The flotilla embarked on its global journey from the southern port city of Bandar Abbas on September 20, 2022, navigating through the Indian Ocean, Pacific Ocean, and Atlantic Ocean, before returning home after an eight-month expedition.
The flotilla covered a distance of 65,000 kilometers across international waters, marking the first round-the-world voyage undertaken by an Iranian Navy flotilla. The mission aimed to expand naval presence in international waters and to convey the message that the Iranian Navy remains undeterred by severe sanctions and external pressures.
