Russian Official Advocates for Enhanced Tehran-Moscow Cooperation

Moscow:The head of the Russian-Iranian Council for Trade Relations, Rajab Safarov, has emphasized the importance of expanding bilateral cooperation between Russia and Iran. He stated that closer ties in economic, political, and security domains would bolster the positions of both countries and safeguard their shared interests.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Safarov, speaking at a meeting on Sunday, underscored the necessity of redefining relations and enhancing cooperation among nations with aligned interests and viewpoints, especially in the wake of recent regional and international developments.

Safarov also highlighted Iran's resilience during the recent war, describing it as a testament to the country's capabilities and potential. He claimed that these developments have elevated Iran's status in international affairs to that of the fourth superpower.

Safarov referred to the Western sanctions imposed on Russia and the restrictions on its economic relations with Europe over the past four years, noting that these circumstances have compelled Moscow to explore new trade routes, including enhanced cooperation with Tehran.

He further stressed the need for strengthening Iran-Russia cooperation across economic, political, and security sectors, suggesting that closer alignment between the two countries could protect their shared interests and improve their bargaining power on the global stage.
