Iranian Official Accuses US of Using Human Rights for Political Pressure

Qom: The secretary-general of the Youth Organization for Human Rights of the Islamic Republic of Iran has accused the United States of employing human rights as a strategic tool to exert political pressure on independent nations. This statement was made by Amin Ansari during the 12th International Conference on 'American Human Rights from the Perspective of the Supreme Leader' held at the Jamkaran Mosque in Qom.According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Ansari expressed that the US perspective on human rights is not rooted in genuine humanitarian principles but rather serves as a means for Washington to impose pressure, assert dominance, and pursue its political objectives. He highlighted that since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, the US has frequently targeted Iran using various pretexts such as human rights, nuclear issues, democracy, women's rights, and Iran's defense capabilities.Ansari argued that these issues are merely tools used by the US to pressure Iran, with the ultimate goal of forcing the nation into submission. He emphasized that the Islamic Revolution aimed to implement Islamic teachings domestically while presenting a justice-oriented Islam to the world. He further stated that Iran's pursuit of political and economic independence, particularly efforts to reduce US influence over the country's resources, has been a significant source of hostility from America. Ansari also pointed to Iran's support for the Palestinian people and its opposition to Zionism as additional factors contributing to tensions with Washington. He concluded by asserting that global public opinion increasingly views 'American human rights' as a pretext for actions like coups, sanctions, and violations of nations' rights.
