Tehran: Administration spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani, referring to the Iran-US talks, says negotiations and defense readiness are two complementary strategies to protect Iran's interests.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Mohajerani, speaking with reporters following a cabinet meeting, addressed several issues, including the presentation of a full report by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Tuesday's talks between Iranian and US delegations in Geneva. She noted that considering the explanations provided by the top diplomat, the simultaneous process of the negotiations and defense readiness are the two approaches of the Islamic Republic to securing national interests, maintaining security, and strengthening social cohesion.
She stated that the Iranian defense forces are in a state of full combat readiness, adding that other necessary preparations have also been foreseen in accordance with security requirements. On the specialized details of the Geneva talks, Mohajerani mentioned that the Foreign Ministry spokesperson would provide the necessary explanations and answer relevant questions related to the Iran-US negotiations.
The Geneva talks, held on Tuesday, marked the second round of negotiations between Iran and the US on nuclear and sanctions removal issues. The Iranian delegation was headed by Foreign Minister Araghchi. The American delegates included US Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff and President Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner.
