Iranian Oil Minister Resigns, New Caretaker Appointed

Tehran:Iranian Minister of Petroleum Mohsen Paknejad has resigned, and President Masoud Pezeshkian has appointed Hamid Bovard as the caretaker head of the Oil Ministry, as stated by the president's office.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Seyyed Mehdi Tabatabaei, deputy for communications and information in the president's office, announced the resignation on X on Sunday night. President Pezeshkian accepted Paknejad's resignation and issued a decree appointing Bovard as the new caretaker minister.

The reason for Paknejad's resignation was not disclosed. In his decree, President Pezeshkian referenced Article 135 of the Constitution and highlighted Bovard's commitment, competence, and executive record as reasons for his appointment. Bovard previously served as managing director of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC).
