Tehran: President Masoud Pezeshkian has called on Muslim nations to strengthen unity and cut ties with Israel in response to the regime’s aggression across the region, stressing the need for coordinated economic, cultural, and social measures against the occupying regime.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Pezeshkian spoke in Tehran before departing for Qatar to attend an emergency summit of heads of state of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Arab League. The meeting, hosted at the invitation of the Emir of Qatar, will address Israel’s ‘blatant aggression’ carried out in violation of international law.
President Pezeshkian highlighted that the Zionist regime does not recognize boundaries or frameworks for its actions, noting its attacks on several Islamic countries, including Qatar, Lebanon, Iraq, Iran, and Yemen. He expressed concern over the support these actions receive from the United States and European countries.
Condemning what he described as Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza, Pezeshkian accused the regime of killing women, children, and the elderly while receiving backing and supplies from Western states. He criticized the legitimacy given to the actions of what he called the apartheid Zionist regime.
The president expressed hope that the summit in Qatar would lead to tangible outcomes, particularly in holding Israel accountable through international legal forums. He emphasized the need for Islamic countries to enhance their unity and pursue these crimes at international and legal bodies.
Reiterating his call for a united front, Pezeshkian urged Muslim nations to sever all forms of cooperation with Israel. He argued that if Muslims act together, they will deter invasions of their countries and uphold international laws.
The emergency summit in Doha comes amid heightened regional tensions following Israeli strikes against leaders of the Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas, in Doha on September 9, with leaders from across the Islamic world expected to deliberate joint responses.
