Tehran: President Masoud Pezeshkian has lauded Iran's national student team for securing runner-up status at the FISU World University Championship Combat Sports in Brazil, describing the achievement as a testament to the determination, capability, and merit of the nation's youth.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, in a Wednesday message congratulating the Iranian delegation for winning 30 medals and finishing second overall, Pezeshkian said the result was 'a shining manifestation of the firm resolve, capability and competence of the young people of this land.'

He extended his congratulations to the Iranian people, particularly the country's university community and student athletes, and praised the efforts of the competitors, coaches, and officials involved in the team's success.

The president said the achievement underscored the significant potential and bright future of Iran's younger generation and university students. 'There is no doubt that this success reflects the great capacities and promising future of the country's youth and students,' Pezeshkian said, expressing hope that with more precise planning and stronger support from relevant authorities, Iranian athletes would continue to achieve greater success in international sporting events.
